The 2023 NBA All-Star weekend is less than three weeks away and as days go by, the league keeps on revealing several intriguing things about the grand show. Recently, the NBA disclosed that the Los Angeles Lakers legend and two-time champion, Pau Gasol would return to the NBA in the upcoming All-Star weekend, not as a player but in a very different role. Meanwhile, shortly after the news circulated on the internet, NBA fans flooded social media circles to convey their excitement about the former Lakers star’s newest stint.

Gasol was one of the best overseas players to ever play in the league. Over the years, the six-time All-Star played for several franchises in the league and won the coveted championship trophy alongside Kobe Bryant with the Lakers. Now, the Spaniard is set to return to the league in a completely different role.

Recently, Gasol wrote on his Twitter account about his return to the NBA but as a coach. He wrote, Coaching in the @NBAAllStar Rising Stars will be an absolute honor! Thanks to the @NBA for making it possible(emoji) See you in Salt Lake City!” In other words, fans would be able to see the former Lakers star as one of the coaches in the upcoming All-Star weekend’s Rising Stars game.

The Rising Stars game will be a part of the NBA All-Star weekend show where the league’s young players, in their first and second years, play against each other. However, just like last year, the NBA G League players would also participate in the Rising Stars game.
