Odom started off by expressing concern in regard to the fight that ensued between Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard on the bench earlier this season. According to Odom, the fight showed an imbalance in chemistry in the Lakers’ locker room. Regardless of the fight, Odom still believes that the Lakers can win it all.

“I think they’re good enough to win a championship. They’re still my pick to win the championship. I don’t know if that’s Lakers pride or me just being a Laker at heart, but they’re still my pick,” said Odom.

Odom further supported his claim by stating the following.

“Anytime you have LeBron James, a healthy Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, and Carmelo Anthony as your sixth man, I think they give you a really good shot,” explained Odom.

Furthermore, Odom expressed contempt for those who held Westbrook responsible for the Lakers’ poor performances this season. He reasoned with this argument by stating that the Lakers’ defense was the problem and that Westbrook would eventually bounce back.

Thereafter, Odom gave an example of how Kobe Bryant’s tenacity and will spread throughout the team, which enabled them to succeed, and mentioned that a similar success would be achieved if LeBron were to do the same.

In Conclusion

Many believe that the Lakers still have a legitimate chance at the title. Given that even at 37, LeBron is still flourishing in the league, there is still hope for the Lakers as long as the ‘King’ is at the Lakers’ helm. Added to this, the return of LeBron will also mean that the Lakers’ big three will be back in action once again.

Taking things further, the primary aim for the Lakers, aside from winning games, would be to stay healthy. Additionally, with the trade deadline nearing, the franchise will look to acquire additional talent with fresh legs who can help them both defensively and offensively. Although things look gloomy, there is still hope for LeBron and the Lakers.
