Ever since his debut in 2003, LeBron James has dealt with a fair share of haters. As his popularity rose, so did the number of haters. So naturally, King James seems to have found a way to use haters to his benefit.

During a recent interview, James revealed how he keeps himself motivated – and how it involved his haters.

While on Uninterrupted’s The Shop Season 5 premiere, James, Donald Glover, and other guests discussed “tapping into something bad” in order to feel motivated. Grover explained that while he does get the result, the thought behind it is a little petty.

James agreed, further revealing how he benefits from his own haters. As per the 37-year-old, one needs them. “Like, sometimes – I’ll go out on the court sometimes,” he said. “And I just – I’ll just be looking for a LeBron hater”.

He added that the reason is not defined, and he might have just slept bad or late after hanging out with his kids. The next day, while doing warmups on the floor, he’ll just need that jump starter. The four-time NBA Champion explained that he ends up needing them and really looks for them in the crowd.

He added, “‘In the crowds, for warmups, it’s like 20 minutes before the game start, and I’m just looking like, ‘Oh, I found this motherf***er. Oh yeah. I’m ready. I’ma be ready to go tonight'”.

How well is James playing this season?

Last month, James completed a historic feat by passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in scoring more points than anyone else in the NBA – regular season and postseason combined. Additionally, James makes his age look like just a number. At 37, the Akron native is averaging 28.8 points per game while leading the Lakers.

But despite his stellar and consistent performances, the Lakers have continued to struggle throughout the season. Though ‘the big three’ with Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis was meant to overpower and dominate, the team is stuck at the bottom half. Currently placed ninth in the Western Conference, the Lakers are eligible for the play-in tournament.

The road to the playoffs, however, might not be easy. One can only hope that James and his team buckle up, and end up securing their place in the playoffs.
