The Los Angeles Lakers have made some incredible signings during the offseason. Adding Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony has elevated the franchise to greater heights. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis amongst their ranks, the team will challenge for the upcoming NBA regular season.

Moreover, they will be determined to play well, considering they had a poor campaign last season. However, of all the signings they made, there is one player considered as the major x-Factor on the team. Wayne Ellington is that guy.

Wayne Ellington is the x-factor, not LeBron James!!!

NBA Analysis Network’s Evan Massey threw some limelight on the shooting guard from Pennsylvania.

“I’m not sure why no one is talking about Wayne Ellington among all the moves the Lakers made. He’s going to be the X-Factor for this team this season. His ability to knock down the 3-point shot will make him a lethal threat alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis,” said Massey.

The shooting guard was a former NCAA champion back in 2009 and played for a lot of teams. However, he has not managed an NBA title. Thus, his move to the Lakers is key for both the franchise and the player. As the Lakers do not have a recognized shooter apart from Anthony, bringing Wayne was a smart piece of business by the franchise.

The importance of Ellington is important for the team, which has struggled beyond the arc. They ranked 21st in 3-point percentage while only ranking 25th for shots made. Hence, it was one weak point for the team.

The biggest question would be how effective he will be. With able scorers inside the paint, Ellington would be important for the team if he shot just three-pointers in the game. That would make a lot of difference considering how poor the Lakers are in shooting threes. Likewise, he would provide those extra bench points and help the team progress.

James is looking to win his fifth NBA title, and it looks like the Lakers can do well in the coming season. Westbrook’s addition to the team is important, adding more star power to the franchise. Despite that, Ellington will play a big part for the Los Angeles-based franchise this season.
