There were a lot of issues that came up with the Los Angeles Lakers. At the beginning of the season, age was an issue. However, only 2 years back, the purple and gold had a great young core. With the likes of Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart, they had a bright future. But the trade for Anthony Davis saw them trade away all their young assets to the New Orleans Pelicans.

There was controversy surrounding the trade. Notably, because Lonzo Ball was traded away as well. His father, LaVar Ball, was not happy and even said the Lakers will never win another championship again. For Lonzo, he went to New Orleans and transformed himself into a great perimeter shooter in the league.

One would think he would have felt bad about the trade as well. However, the story is not as it seems.

Lonzo Ball had no issues with Lakers trade for Anthony Davis

Being on the chopping block is never a good feeling. But for Lonzo, it may have looked worse. Being a former number two pick, there were a lot of expectations on his back. But a poor shot and injuries pushed the Lakers into trading him. Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart also went along with Ball to the Pelicans. However, unlike his father, Lonzo had no issues with this trade.

Lonzo said: “I know it’s part of the business, but it was the first time I felt like somebody didn’t really want me in a way, I guess. But it was Anthony Davis, so there was no shame in that. He’s one of the best players to ever play.”

While the Lakers won a title with Anthony Davis, Lonzo is now one of the best perimeter shooters in the league. He worked a lot on his jump shot and modified it to work well. Ball made his way to the Chicago Bulls in the off season to team up with Zach Lavine and DeMar DeRozan. He is shooting a career high 41% from range with the Bulls as their starting point guard.
