The saga of Dennis Schroder was one of the most interesting trade deals in recent times. With an opportunity to sign for the Los Angeles Lakers for a four-year, $84 million contract extension, the point guard turned it down to become an unrestricted free agent. However, things did not happen as he planned. Eventually, he ended up signing for the Boston Celtics for one year, a $5.9 million mid-level exception. This prompted him to post an Instagram post where he trolled himself with bags in a funny post.

Dennis Schroder lightens up the mood

The point guard took notice of his situation and posted a picture on Instagram sarcastically. This move made a lot of celebrities and other famous sporting personalities support him. Australian Tennis sensation, Nick Kyrgios commented on the post as well. Significantly, he is a well-known Boston Celtics fan.

The tennis superstar’s comments made Schroder take notice and produced an epic reply.

There are qualms that the point guard did not make the best out of the deal from the Lakers. But, Schroder posted a picture with bags in front of two cars and the picture was trending for a long time. Even though joining Celtics would financially be not up to the mark, there would be a chance for him to make his mark on the league.

Is this a good deal for the Boston Celtics?

The Celtics have a good roster with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The inclusion of Dennis Schroder is important for the franchise as it provides the defensive solidarity of the team. Thus, the Boston Celtics made a smart decision to bring Schroder.

During the last five seasons, he averaged 17.4 points and 5.3 assists per game. Those are pretty respectable figures. But, his key skillset is when it comes to perimeter defending. He is one of the best defenders in the league.
