Donda Academy is the place where student-athletes study in the hope of getting exposure; the exposure that could change their families’ lives generationally. Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is the founder of the academy. Unfortunately, the founder’s controversial comments made the school shut down. The former NBA All-Star Jaylen Brown came in the support of the students who were affected by the shutdown of the school.

Jason Angell is the principal of the academy. Following the news, he sent an email to the students and staffs of the academy regarding the decision to shut down. He said, the founder of the school took the decision to shut down the academy himself.

Angell wrote in the email, “We intend to begin afresh in September of 2023.”?

The shutting down of the academy was also going to affect the parents and teachers associated with the academy. Jaylen Brown understood the problems of the students and people related to the academy and showed empathy towards them as he took to Twitter.

However, in the middle of this, the basketball team of the Donda Academy got banned from invitations of prominent high schools. This team has three top-50 recruits in the Class of 2023. The statements of the Hoophall Classic, John Wall Holiday Invitational, confirmed that the Donda Academy will not participate. Jeremy Treatman is the founder of Scholastic Play By Play Classics. He expressed his decision to not include Donda’s basketball team due to Kanye’s actions. They were all against the words spoke by Ye.

Jaylen Brown, the Boston Celtics star, criticized the actions taken by the high schools against the basketball team. He came in support of the students and tweeted,

Jaylen Brown was ready to sponsor any events regarding the team of Donda Academy. He asked the people related to the team if he could help them in any way.

However, after a day of shutdown, the Donda Academy sent another email to their students. The email called the students to attend the academy on Thursday, making them wonder whether to attend or not.
