NFL veteran, Shannon Sharpe is one of the biggest supporters of the Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. He has defended King James countless times in debates against one of James’ well-known detractors Skip Bayless on the FS1 show UNDISPUTED. Last night, interestingly, during the game between the Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies at the Crypto.com arena, the former Denver Broncos tight end stole the spotlight following a brawl with Ja Morant and co. After the incident, the NFL veteran gave an interview with ESPN where he explained what happened between them. Meanwhile, his explanation caught many fans’ attention and made them react to the affair on social media.

The altercation started between them when Sharpe and Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks yelled at each other across the court. Following that, other Grizzlies stars, Steven Adams and Morant joined in to confront the NFL veteran. Not only that, even Morant’s dad, Tee Morant joined in to continue the argument. However, eventually, both were escorted away. In light of this, Sharpe later on clarified what led to the brawl in an interview.

In a statement to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Sharpe explained the entire scenario. He said, “They didn?t want this smoke…It started with Dillon Brooks. I said he was too small to guard LeBron [James]. He said, ?F**k? me. I said, ?F**k you,? back. He started to come at me and I said, ?You don?t want these problems.?”

Moreover, the now-54 years old added, “And then Ja [Morant] came out of nowhere talking. He definitely didn?t want these problems. Then the dad came and he obviously didn?t want no problems. But I wanted anything they had. Don?t let these fools fool you now.?

Meanwhile, the statement soon started circulating in the Internet prompting all kinds of unique reactions from fans. A lot of fans brought up the closeness of the whole fiasco to that of WWE/WWF battles. Some questioned why Sharpe didn’t include the name of Steven Adams in his rant despite bringing up Ja Morant’s dad. This again triggered a flurry of comments.
