The NBA saw many rivalries from Russell & Chamberlain to Kobe & Wade to LeBron & Kobe. But the rivalry between the NBA legends, Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade, was different. They shared a wonderful relationship on and off the court. In a recent interview with Jemele Hill, Wade revealed how his friendship with Bryant started. Wade went on to explain in the interview how their friendship started during their preparation for the 2008 Olympics with the U.S. National team.

Wade revealed building a friendship with Kobe Bryant, was not easy. He said that they needed to spend a lot of quality time with each other. He recalled his memories of spending time with Bryant and Chris Paul from breakfast to lunch and going together everywhere.

He added that they wanted to know more about each other to increase their chemistry and excel in the games.

Dwyane Wade about his relationship with Kobe Bryant

When Jemele Hill asked with whom Dwyane Wade’s friendship went the furthest. Wade replied that it was with Kobe Bryant. He further clarified that everyone on the team would say their friendship with Bryant developed more because no one had a relationship with him before.

He said, “First of all I believe all of us will say Kobe because nobody has a relationship with Kobe. So if you was able to say hi, that was, it went far.

Kobe Bryant was one of the most fierce competitors in the league. He did not have a lot of friends during his time in the NBA. Because of his work ethic, he did not have much time for friendships. He rarely hung out with his own teammates off the court. So it is no surprise he did not have a friendly relationship with his opponents. However, the 2008 Olympic team gave him the opportunity to spend some time with fellow superstars like Wade, LeBron James, Chris Paul, and others.
