Elon Musk has been at the center of controversies after acquiring America’s biggest social media platform Twitter in October. Musk received criticism for laying off a lot of Twitter employees in what was believed to be a rash decision. Later, the billionaire business magnate was forced to rehire some of the fired employees to sustain the proper functioning of the company. Recently, Elon Musk landed himself in another controversy with an ultimatum to his employees. However, the serious decision from the Space X CEO recently prompted Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to call the move ‘stupid’ during a scathing rant.

Platformer’s Zoe Schiffer reported that Elon Musk has issued an ultimatum in the form of an email. As it turns out, the Tesla CEO has demanded that Twitter employees pledge not to leak any internal details about the company to the media. The journalist also revealed the email that Musk had sent his employees, to which they were obliged to respond to by 5:00 PM on December 10.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar calls Elon Musk’s new email ultimatum a ‘stupid’ move
In response to Musk’s ultimatum, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar cited the disturbing history surrounding oaths of loyalty. The Lakers legend suggested the example of physicist David Saxon and other faculties at the University of California, who were fired after being accused of harboring radical beliefs by teaching that racism and LQBTQ+ issues existed.

The six-time NBA champ pointed out that Saxon eventually became the president of California University. Also, the institution had to hire back all the faculties following a lawsuit.

While condemning the loyalty oaths, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar ended up calling out Elon Musk’s faulty system of governance. The 19-time All-Star said, “If such oaths are meant to uncover the disloyal, there couldn’t be a stupider way to go about it.”

Kareem highlighted that disloyal people would immediately pledge to the conditions in order to stay hidden. The 2-time Finals MVP added, “And it reveals that some people have not learned from history the lessons about how oppressive leadership breeds more disloyalty.”

Kareem critically opposed Musk’s pledge of loyalty. He claimed that an oppressive decision to force the employees into signing a pledge could only lead to more disloyalty.
