Paul Pierce Drops the Truth Bomb On Why Chris Paul’s Suns Aren’t Buzzing In the NBA Media

The Phoenix Suns have had the most successful run this season. They had a huge winning streak and are currently on top of the Western Conference standings. Moreover, they are not just dominating their conference; they have the most wins in the entire NBA.

Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce had a discussion over who would emerge victorious on top in the Western Conference. This conversation took place on Showtime Basketball. Paul Pierce was of the opinion that there is no team right now that could beat the Suns. In his personal and professional opinion, Suns will seal the deal in the West.

However, Garnett was amazed by the fact that the Suns barely get any media attention. They have quite literally been the most dominating team this season. No one is performing better than them at a collective level. Their current record is 48-10. They have won the last 9 games out of 10.

Paul Pierce has an answer for why they do not get enough media attention. He says, “there is nothing sexy about them…they straight up and down, no curves nothing.” What Pierce means by this is that they do not have flashy players. They don’t have players who like to jump sky-high and make impossible dunks. They don’t have shooters who can shoot threes from a mile away.

Is Paul Pierce correct in his assessment?

Yes, to some extent Pierce is correct. The Phoenix Suns do not play a flashy game. They focus on the fundamentals of basketball and build off said fundamentals. Move the ball, find the open man, and score the basket. Even if the spectators and analysts feel that the Suns are not ‘sexy enough’, they are doing what others can’t. They are winning lights out in every game. As of now, there is no competition to their dominance.

The same things were said about the San Antonio Spurs back in the early 2000s, that the team is not flashy enough. However, they won five championships. Some fans think that fundamentals are the most basic to any sport, however, mastering the fundamentals is the toughest part.

The coaching staff of the Suns have found a perfect way for them to win the games. Their focus is not on media attention, it is a championship ring. The team chemistry of the Suns is off the charts. They respect and look up at each other and they move in synergy and attack like one giant fist.
