WNBA Star Brittney Griner remains stuck in Russia and her situation continues to worsen. Griner’s recent appeal for leniency was denied last month and her transfer process to a penal colony began on November 9. BG’s lawyers and US diplomats have no information about her whereabouts, and it could be weeks before her location would be revealed. Amid a testing situation for Griner, famous rapper DDG, who created a song on Elon Musk, recently gave his take on the situation, deeming her detainment as ‘outrageous.’

DDG is a famous rapper who rose to fame with his hit single “Moonwalking in Calabasas” which crossed millions of views on the Internet. The 25-year-old also created a song on multi-billionaire business tycoon Elon Musk.

DDG wrote, “Free Brittney Griner.. smh 9 years for a vape pen is outrageous.”

The popular rapper felt Griner’s punishment to be quite unjust. He came in support of the 2014 WNBA champ and called for her freedom on social media. Griner has been stuck in Russia for eight months since she was first detained at a Moscow Airport in February. A Russian court sentenced the WNBA star to nine years in prison under drug possession charges. After her verdict was upheld last month, Griner is now being processed to a Russian penal court where she will be serving out her sentence.

Meanwhile, the Biden Administration is doing all it can to secure Brittney Griner’s safe release. They have offered a prisoner swap deal which remains unanswered by the Kremlin so far. Thus, DDG, like many Americans, showed his support for Brittney Griner during the toughest phase of her life.

Things could get worse for Griner

The moment that Griner feared for months has finally arrived. The eight-time All-Star is being processed to one of the infamous penal colonies, inspired by the Soviet Union’s Gulag system. Thus, BG might end up facing some extremely harsh conditions as she continues to remain imprisoned in Russia.
