The partnership between Shaq and Wade began from the 2004-05 season. Wade, who was a sophomore that season, had been to the Eastern Conference Semifinals with the Heat a year ago. So joining forces with Shaq gave Wade the perfect partner. After a 59 win regular season, the Heat marched into the playoffs in dominant fashion. They would sweep the New Jersey Nets and the Washington Wizards in the first two rounds of the playoffs. However, they would succumb to Shaq’s previous foe, the Detroit Pistons, in a fiery 7 game series.

Thereafter, the Heat came into the following season with redemption. With 52 regular seasons wins, the duo was once again headed for the playoffs. This led to an exciting Eastern Conference Finals matchup between the Pistons and Heat once again. However, Shaq and Wade got their revenge. In 6 games, they trounced Detroit and headed to the finals to face the Dallas Mavericks. Here, Wade and Shaq took home the title in 6 games to give the Heat its first ever championship.
