Ask anyone in the NBA community and they’ll agree to Shaquille O’Neal being one of the greatest players in the NBA. Many even regard him as the most dominant player ever. Moreover, it was this dominance that brought him success in his career. With 4 NBA titles under his belt, Shaq used pure force and speed to oust his opponents. This was especially seen during his tenure with the Lakers and the Heat.

Upon the completion of his career, Shaq became a successful businessman. Through owning various business franchises and investing in companies, Shaq took smart decisions to build his wealth outside of the NBA. However, there have been few occasions where Shaq has not been the brightest person in the room. One such incident came on ‘NBA on TNT’, where Shaq gave a bizarre piece of advice on how to save gas money.
Shaquille O’Neal on saving gas money
Back in 2018, Shaq hilariously explained how Kenny Smith could save up on gas money. The big man stated that Smith would have to spend just $20 dollars to ensure the tank was full. This explanation was hilarious because it made no sense at all.
“When it gets to half, then you put $20 dollars, you bring it back to full,” said Shaq.

To this, Kenny replied, stating that every time he stopped, he’d have to fill the tank to $80 dollars, irrespective of how many times he stopped. This was because he traveled a distance that consumed $80 worth of gas. Despite this, Shaq further explained his bizarre argument.
“The average human stops once a week for gas. With you, you only work here twice. So, you would probably have to stop once every two weeks,” explained Shaq.

In reaction, both Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley began laughing while Ernie Johnson sat with his head in his hands. As the discussion carried forward, Shaq tried really hard to defend his claim. But the explanation he put forth just put everyone in a state of laughter.
Clearly, Shaq’s explanation made no sense whatsoever. However, it gave viewers plenty of joy. This is yet another example of how Shaq tickles the funny bone. The only difference here is that it was unintentional.
