The Los Angeles Lakers did not enjoy a great post-season last year as they lost to Phoenix in the first round. Much of the blame went on their new signings’ poor performances. Notably, Dennis Schroder faced the heat for his poor showing against Phoenix.
Previously, Schroder was looking for a $100 million-plus contract with the Lakers. However, the Lakers did not offer him that. Now, as he has signed a one-year deal with the Celtics for a much lower sum, former Laker, Shaquille O’Neal, did not wait to speak his mind.

Shaq takes a dig at Dennis Schroder
Well, we all know that if there is any drama, Shaq is the perfect marketer for it. He took to Instagram to highlight how Dennis rejected an $84 million offer from the Lakers and signed a $5.9 million deal with the Celtics. Moreover, the Lakers deal would have kept him for 4 years, potentially adding a couple of championships to his resume.
Now, not only is Dennis Schroder going to make much less money, but he may also have lost his chance at winning a championship. Earlier, there were rumors that the Lakers would let him go. But, because of his poor off-season, his value declined tremendously, and now, he has signed only a one-year contract with the Celtics.

Just to put the financial part into perspective, Schroder could have made 4 times what he will make right now. Moreover, he would have stability in his career as he would be in LA for 4 years. There is no doubt that Schroder is a skillful player, but this will not sit well in his name.
But, with this move, who is the real winner?
Who won, Boston 0r Los Angeles?
While Schroder had a bad postseason, that does not take away from what he is capable of. He is a reliable scorer behind other stars. He averaged 14 points and 6 assists in the regular season with the Lakers. Moreover, with the Celtics losing on Fournier, Schroder will come in big.
