Shaunie Nelson Opens up on Her Relationship with Shaquille O’Neal and Their Co-Parenting Duties

Shaquille O’Neal is a man of many emotions. The four-time NBA champion has gone through a lot when it comes to his personal life, but stays outspoken and calm on the outside. O’Neal ended his marriage with Shaunie Nelson in 2009, but the pair have remained in close connection since then.

O’Neal and Shaunie Nelson have four kids together and one from the latter’s previous relationship. The couple was married for seven years, but the bond had to be broken due to personal reasons.

However, they’ve begun enjoying their co-parenting duties which puts things into a different perspective. There are no feelings about a patch-up, but both O’Neal and Shaunie have been keen on being there for their kids.

“We have a great co-parenting relationship. Seriously, it took us a long time to get there don’t get me wrong, it was not an easy journey, but once we got there, I think we felt comfortable being honest with each other and just sharing what was going on in our lives and our personal lives to a certain extent,” Shaunie recently mentioned on the Tamron Hall Show.

Shaquille O’Neal is a father of six, but the NBA icon does not want to stop at that number. While Shaunie can’t offer any help, she is more than happy to tease her ex-husband about his ambitions!

“I used to tease him and be like, ‘Could you please hurry up and get a wife? And then you could stop, you know, randomly FaceTiming me and talking about your day? Like … get a girlfriend or something,’” Shaunie mentioned.

“He always tells me he wants to have more kids. I’m like ‘Well knock yourself out, have a good time with that one. I think you’ve pushed over that hill now sir,’. But whatever it is, that’s his business,” Shaunie added.

Things seem to be going on a smooth note with Shaquill O’Neal and Shaunie Nelson at the moment. The couple has mutual respect for each other’s feelings and is also supportive of their emotions.

Although the split happened nearly 12 years ago, O’Neal and Shaunie are continuing to be there for each other. While the latter hasn’t disclosed if she’s currently in a relationship, O’Neal is rumored to be dating Annie Ilonzeh.
