Sold to a Dentist at $11 Million, Shaquille O’Neal Admits Horrific History of His 76,000 Sq Ft House

Millionaire NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal likes to live his life lavishly. He has a massive net worth of around $400 million and he spends his money on luxuries like cars, watches, and even yachts. 

Moreover, he has numerous estates across the country. Located in Florida, Shaq owned a mega-mansion spanning around 76,000 sq feet. However, living in the mansion was a nightmare for the Los Angeles Lakers legend as he felt lonely after his divorce.

Talking on a podcast, Shaq revealed the worst part about his divorce from his ex-wife Shaunie Nelson. Shaq said, “The worst part was going through the separation and divorce and they weren’t there anymore. I would come home to a 76 thousand square foot house that I built for them. There was nobody there but me, that was the worst part.”

After buying the property for around $3.95 million in 1993, O’Neal struggled to sell it. The mansion was initially listed at around $28 million in 2018 and the former NBA champion was unable to find a buyer. However, he finally sold it at a lesser value than its initial market price.

Shaquille O’Neal‘s Florida mansion had every possible luxury imaginable. It housed 12 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, and a grand foyer with dual mahogany staircases, tray ceilings, and marble floors.

Moreover, the mansion also had a 6,000 ft Miami Heat-themed basketball court alongside a 17-car showroom, cigar room, wine cellar, and a custom theatre.

Talking about his humungous house, a sad Shaquille O’Neal said, “I just sold it and I’m actually sick that I sold it.” When the host enquired about who the mansion was sold to, he said, “A dentist.”

Located in Orlando, both the city and the mansion had a special significance in O’Neal’s life. He was drafted as the #1 overall pick by the Orlando Magic in 1992 where he established himself as one of the best players in the league.
