The Los Angeles Lakers have a pretty different lineup from when they began their campaign this season. The team almost revamped the entire roster after trading out stars like Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley, retaining only LeBron James and Anthony Davis, mainly, after the trade deadline passed. Moreover, Beverley, who currently plays for the Chicago Bulls, displayed a disrespectful gesture toward James in their last encounter. However, the Clippers star Westbrook seemed to prove his loyalty to LA by taking sweet revenge on Pat Bev on behalf of LeBron James.

In response to Beverley’s disrespectful gesture towards LeBron James at Sunday’s game, Westbrook brought back an iconic celebration of his to get back at him. During the fourth quarter of the game between the Lakers and the Bulls, Beverley had delivered a ‘too small’ celebration after dropping a jump hook over LeBron James.

Even though the fans erupted on social media following the display, Westbrook’s gesture the next day proved to be the perfect response to Beverley for fans. Over the years, the Clippers star has performed his signature celebration many times on the court and it has come to be easily recognized by fans. While the exact origin of his celebration is not clear, the fans feel that it began during the 2018-19 season.

Fans missed the celebration for a while this season, but he brought it back on Monday. Notably, the NBA 2K video-game also shows the famous Russ celebration.

Russ leaves fans in a frenzy

In response to Westbrook’s gesture, fans swarmed Twitter when the video surfaced. They flooded in with hilarious opinions on the celebration. One user said, “Taste of his own medicine.”

Here are some more reactions from NBA Twitter.

Will the rivalry end here or will it extend into the playoffs? LeBron James can probably use any help he can get, with the Lakers 9th on the table as of now – but perhaps fans will agree that some loyalty from a former teammate is a good thing despite how standings look as playoffs loom.
