Commissioner Adam Silver makes a shocking proposal to combat ‘Tanking’ in the NBA
While addressing a large group of Phoenix Suns employees, Adam Silver talked about the ‘Tanking.’ Silver called it a “Serious issue” and revealed that the league has been actively working to implement an effective solution to the problem. When asked about the 7’3” French prospect, Silver responded with a stern warning to the teams. “We put teams on notice; We’re going to be paying particular attention to the issue this year.” Silver also proposed a shocking rule that could change the league’s landscape overnight.
Silver also proposed a potential solution for the ‘Tanking’ problem in the league. The commissioner suggested that the concept of ‘Relegation’ could successfully prevent teams from chasing the worst record in the league. According to the concept, two of the worst teams in the NBA would be promoted to G-league, and the two best teams from the G-League will be promoted to the NBA.
But the commissioner soon took back some steps and talked about how the ‘Relegation’ could destabilize the NBA. “It would disrupt our business model, and even if you took two teams up from the G League, they wouldn’t be equipped to compete in the NBA.” When this story broke out, all hell went loose on Social Media.

The NBA draft favors teams that have the worst records. Thus whenever a once-in-a-generation talent arrives, many teams have taken the route of ‘Tanking.’ The concept of ‘Tanking’, however, goes against the very essence of Basketball and is one of the most alarming issues for the NBA, fans, investors, and players.

An interesting idea. European soccer has been doing it for years. No way the NBA could pull this off.
