Seeing Michael Jordan play in the ’90s was an escape from reality. ‘His Airness’ left the crowd spellbound as he took flight while leaving his opponents pleading for mercy. The hardships of daily life can be crippling; however, one look at Jordan starring on the court is all it took to lighten one’s day.

The amount of work that the Chicago Bulls legend put in to perfect his craft was enormous. And coupling that unrivaled skill set with an unwavering competitive mindset propelled MJ to the summit. The success he achieved throughout his playing and post-retirement career is an embodiment of his hard work and determination.

Jordan, during the 90s, was someone who people literally used to worship. They set aside everything to witness what they believed was a diversion in the guise of euphoria.

He served as a source of inspiration for people all around the world. Jordan demonstrated the strength of committing to a goal and never deviating. “His Airness” aspired people to “Be Like Mike”. However, some people took it way too seriously.

People usually feel that being Michael Jordan and having his basketball skills just for a day would be incredible. Well, that would undoubtedly be something extraordinary. However, the Bulls’ great once argued that being him just for a day would be unfair. In fact, being him for a few years is something that would offer someone the real picture.

Michael Jordan got candid about people wanting to be him for a day

In 1992, Michael Jordan sat down with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ex-wife Maria Shriver for an interview. The American journalist asked the Chicago Bulls legend’s thoughts on people seeing his life and immediately thinking that they would want to be him for just a day.

“A lot of people say that ‘I’d love to be Michael Jordan for one day’…yea, that’s not fair,” Jordan said right off the bat. He then went on highlight how a single day wouldn’t give one the entire picture. Therefore, they’ll have to be him for a few years to understand everything.

“Try a year. Try two, three, or four years…then you can see the good along with the bad,” claimed the six-time NBA champion.

Michael Jordan might well be embodying the American Dream, but the hardships that come with it are enormous. A single day as MJ would be phenomenal, but as the former player himself asserted, that wouldn’t offer you the bad side of it.
