Shaquille O’Neal’s love for music isn’t unheard of. The Los Angeles Lakers legend was rapping with the OG’s of rap music back in the 90s while playing in the NBA. Safe to say, when Big Diesel speaks about hip-hop, one ought to listen. In his recent The Big podcast, Shaq was extremely disappointed at the numerous snubs at the 2023 Grammy awards. The Big man had his hands on his head when he learned about the absence of a particular rap group from the 90s. Shaq was dumbfounded alongside his guest on the show.
The seven-foot legend was surprised at the exclusion of some members of the Geto Boys from the celebration of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. Just like his guest Shaq was shocked as he couldn’t find the legendary rap group in the performance.

This year marked the 50th Anniversary of Hip-hop in the music industry. A genre that changed lives throughout the country. It gave voice to young underserved kids throughout the country to speak for themselves. Understandably, Shaq has grown up through that era and understands the importance of the artists who started it all. In the recent The Big podcast, Shaq was shocked when co-host Nischelle Turner mentioned how only Scarface was present from ‘The Geto boys’.

“Ah h*ll no!” exclaimed Shaq as he took out his outrageous glasses to absorb the news. His guest Josiah Johnson chimed in with an apt phrase, “They left them in the ghetto“.
Shaq further enquired about other West coast rappers like the legendary Snoop Dogg, but to his disappointment even they were left out. The Lakers legend was left flabbergasted and considered it a huge disrespect to all the legendary artists.

The Big Aristotle has himself been a part of the rap community for many years, and his disappointment at many of his friends being snubbed was evident.
Shaq’s successful rap career
The Big Man had a better rapping career than many professional rappers. He released four albums that hit the charts and were played on the radio for a very long time. His debut album Shaq Diesel peaked at #25 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum.
