The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently not having the kind of season that they might have expected. Despite acquiring the three-time NBA All-Star Rudy Gobert in the offseason, they have not shown any significant improvement in their performance. In light of this, recently a shocking fact emerged that compared the current standings of the Wolves with the previous season by this time of the year. Meanwhile, the news caught the fans’ attention and they shared their reactions on social media.

French superstar Rudy Gobert joined the Wolves back in a blockbuster deal in July 2022 after spending nine-season with the Utah Jazz. However, even after acquiring one of the best defenders in the league, the Wolves are still struggling.

A  shocking stat about the current state of the Wolves in comparison to the previous season was shared on social media. It unveiled that by this time of the year last season, the Wolves were 20-21. Interestingly, this season they are 20-22. The team has not apparently improved despite the addition of Rudy Gobert. Shortly after the post, the fans shared their opinions in the comment section.

Most fans criticized the Wolves for signing the 7’1 center. Some even suggested that it was one of the worst signings in the league lately. Overall, it was apparent that the fans were highly disappointed with the performance of Gobert. Here are some reactions from fans:

Shockingly, the 30-year-old’s stats are also going down as he is currently averaging 14 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in comparison to previous seasons’ 15.6 points, 14.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists.

The Wolves are currently sitting at the 10th spot in the Western Conference table with a .476 win percentage. The team still has the potential to make the playoffs. However, their form, inconsistency,  and injury issues are a huge cause for concern. Notably, Wolves star Karl-Anthony Towns missed a lot of games to injury. He has played 21 and missed 21 games so far this season.
