There is a lot going around in the NBA world at the moment. We recently concluded a successful NBA Draft, bringing in several exciting new talents. Other than that, the league players are being named in trade and transfer rumors. Some of them have already made it to another team or have been made to switch. One such player, for the Boston Celtics, recently had his dreams broken by such a decision.

Although the Celtics weren’t able to make it all the way through last season, they proved themselves as a good team. There does exist a strong chance of growth and for which the management has been making difficult choices already. However, some of those choices and decisions have led to a difficult goodbye from their own, 29-year-old star player.

Marcus Smart bids goodbye to the Boston Celtics

Marcus Smart started his career after being picked by the Celtics in round 1 of the 2014 draft. Since then, he was with the team and his reaction to the latest trade suggests that he wasn’t expecting to be named in any such deal. Marcus Smart did not anticipate being mentioned in the trade rumors that were circling the league on Thursday night. However, the management had other plans for him.

As per sources, Smart was in “complete shock” when he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies late on Wednesday night as part of a three-team deal. Despite things going against his wish, he recently posted an emotional message for the franchise and fans.

The 2022 NBA Defensive Player of the Year posted a long and emotional note for the franchise and its fans.

He wrote, “Where do I even begin?as I start to think about the last 9 years I have a lot of emotions running thru me. I came to Boston as a naive kid from Dallas not really knowing what to expect. All I knew was the type of work ethic my momma instilled in me and I was going to work my a** off and make sure I EARNED the respect of each and every one of the fans in Boston.”

Proud to have earned the respect of the fans, Smart said that this “this was tuff” but he is glad to have been a part of it.

Additionally, he also showed excitement about joining the Grizzlies and said that this next chapter is going to be special.
