Tokyo Olympics 2020: Clippers Star Paul George Teases Shocking Team USA Move

The Tokyo Olympics is finally all set to arrive and the sports devotees are hyped up for this international event. To add to the NBA world’s excitement, the US basketball team roster is good to go with a star-studded lineup. But, why is Paul George wearing an Olympics jersey despite his absence from the roster for this year’s Dream Team?

The delayed 2020 Olympics is a highly anticipated time of the year after the pandemic hit the world in the most disturbing manner. Moreover, it has doubled the existing excitement amongst basketball enthusiasts with the NBA season nearing its finals.

This Tokyo Olympics commences on 23rd July, a day after the 2020-21 NBA season ends. And despite such a minimal gap between the two, the bigwigs of the league have taken a step ahead to bring the trophy home.

Kevin Durant, a 3-time Olympian, is leading the 12-member U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team this year with his extensive talent. Adding to the big list of NBA stars donning the 2021 US jersey, there is Damian Lillard, Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum, Draymond Green, and many others. But, the released list never included Clippers star player, Paul George.

Having said that, in his recent Instagram story, Paul George is wearing the Olympic US team jersey. Well, that seems to open quite a lot of doubts amongst his fans. To begin with, is he making an appearance in the Tokyo Olympics? Well, the reactions to this appearance have been quite confusing.

Paul George has prior Olympic experience

The star guard is a 2016 Rio Olympics gold medallist who has been a notable NBA player for years together. Recently, he shunned his haters this season with a courageous run to the Western Conference FInals.

Unfortunately, the Clippers lost to the Phoenix Suns and couldn’t make it to the finals; however, it was a highlight postseason for their All-star. Paul recorded an average of nearly 27 points per game in the 2021 playoffs with tremendous individual performances during the course of it.

And after a hectic season like that, what is he doing in the USA jersey? If Paul had gotten added to the already starry roster, it would have been his second appearance in the Olympics. But it seems like just a tease move by the 7-time All-star.
