WNBA Star Brittney Griner appeared on television for the first time in months. She had appealed her nine-year sentence recently. However, the Russian judiciary rejected her plea for leniency. She was held in prison when she was put on trial. And Griner wore a dejected look as she tried to make her case. Meanwhile, a video of the WNBA star has surfaced, which might dishearten a lot of her supporters.

Griner was arrested back in February after Russian customs officials found vape cartridges in her luggage. The cartridges reportedly contained hashish oil, which is illegal in Russia. Griner was later put on trial. She admitted to her guilt and said she had made an honest mistake. But the court showed no mercy as she was sentenced to nine years in prison.

The Phoenix Mercury star was in a cell and wore a very dejected look that will surely upset her fans and well-wishers. The court eventually declined her appeal and now Griner will be transferred to one of Russia’s notoriously harsh penal colonies.

Brittney Griner has been in Russia for over 240 days now. She spoke out for the first time and cited that she is under extreme stress. She also talked about her harsh physical conditions and the mental stress she is under. Griner also said that she was missing her family, and her loved ones.

The US government has been in contact with Russia for some time now. The Biden administration reportedly offered the Russians a deal to get Paul Whelan and Brittney Griner back home.
