WATCH: Former NBA Champion Celebrates After Winning Dancing With the Stars

Players from the NBA make their name for their basketball abilities. However, outside the court, some players have other interests as well. Recently, a former NBA player took his talents to the show ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and came out as the ultimate winner. However, he couldn’t believe he won and was left speechless.

Iman Shumpert came into the league as a part of the New York Knicks. He was a role player for all his career and last saw the NBA court last season on the Brooklyn nets for just two games. Following his short stint, he entered the ‘Dancing With the Stars’ competition and decided to give it a go.

Surprisingly, Shumpert soon became a fan favorite and impressed everyone with his moves on the dance floor. Now, he has won the competition and couldn’t believe it for himself.

From NBA champion to Dancing champion

Shumpert put the entire sports world on notice as he won season 30 of ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ The NBA star worked hard on his dance journey with choreographer Daniella Karagach.

Shumpert put on a serious show in the semi-finals where he even did the famous ‘silencer’ celebration of his former teammate, LeBron James. Learning new types of dancing styles is not easy, but Shumpert looked like a pro when he took to the stage.

However, his win was not an easy one as he came up against big names. Notably, the runner-up was JoJo Siwa who has a big social media following on her side. Other participants included names like Amanda Kloots and Cody Rigsby. Hence, his competition was not easy to tackle. But the NBA star broke all odds and won the Mirror Ball trophy.

However, his flawless dance skills and NBA fan following ensured his victory. He is the first NBA player to win the competition so far. Players such as Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Clyde Drexler, and World Metta Peace have all competed in the competition but failed to win. Shumpert made history becoming the first one to do so.
