WATCH: Michael Jordan, 59, Challenges 62 Year Old Magic Johnson to 1-on-1 Game in Iconic Moment at NBA All-Star Game

Michael Jordan is one of the most competitive players to come around in the NBA. His hunger to win led him to win 6 championships and become one of the greatest players of all time. However, he didn’t have it easy. Jordan had to face off some of the legends of the game like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. While they were rivals at first, the 1992 dream team changed things for MJ and Magic. So years after both hung up their sneakers, MJ challenged the Lakers legend to a one on one.

With the NBA celebrating its 75th anniversary, the league honored all the top 75 players. Hence, many of the game’s legends were gathered in one room. Likewise, Jordan and Magic were both there. So as soon as MJ saw his close friend and rival, he took the chance to put in a challenge,

The 59-year-old Jordan challenged Magic to run it back and play a one on one with him.

Michael Jordan hasn’t changed

With some of the top players coming together, it served as a chance for some old faces to catch up. And Jordan and Magic are no strangers. Notably, Michael had to beat Magic and the Lakers in the finals in order to truly ascend to the throne of being the greatest player at the time. However, all these years later, it seems the love and competitiveness between them isn’t lost.

In the classic Jordan way, MJ greeted Magic with a challenge. He said: “That’s the old do right there. Hey what you say now we go play one-on-one, me and you right now?” Even after all the battles these two legends had through their careers, it seems Jordan has not lost the fire in him. However, despite all the banter, these two legends truly changed the game of basketball.

Both Jordan and Magic became icons for the way they viewed and played the game of basketball. With c combined 11 championships in between them, the two stars knew exactly how to win. To this day there are not many that take on Magic Johnson and his playmaking ability as he led the Showtime Lakers in the ’90s. Magic ranks 6th on the all-time assists list with 10141 dimes throughout his career. He also won 3 regular season MVPs to go with 3 finals MVPs.

Coming to Jordan, the Bulls legend did it all through his career. He is one of the best two ways players to grace the age with ten scoring titles and a DPOY to prove his case. The man won 5 regular season and 6 finals MVPs. Moreover, he did not lose a single final in his entire 15-year career. Both these players were the ultimate competitors who made each other great when they met.
