The King of LA has been struggling to carry his team forward this season. Despite playing at a god-like level offensively, LeBron’s Lakers have had little success. In their most recent regular-season matchup against the Knicks, the Lakers would be pushed into overtime as Knicks’ guard RJ Barrett hit a game-tying three-pointer.

This sent Knicks’ fans into a frenzy, and one such fan who was in attendance was none other than Spike Lee.

Barrett’s OT forcing Three against LeBron’s Lakers

After the first half of the game, the Knicks led by a massive 15 points over the Lakers. However, LeBron James and the Lakers proved superior in the 3rd quarter as they limited the Knicks.

This converted the matchup into a close battle. As the game was winding down in the 4th quarter, RJ Barrett would hit a three-pointer, forcing LeBron and the Lakers to earn the win in overtime.

Evan Fournier would bring the ball up during the Knicks’ offensive transition, with Barrett trailing behind him. As Lakers’ guard Malik Monk stepped up to defend Fournier, the latter would deliver a pass to Barrett, who hit a clutch three-pointer. This shot shocked the Lakers’ fans in the stands. On the other hand, Spike Lee, one of the biggest fans of the Knicks, went berserk out of happiness.

LeBron and the Lakers close the game in OT

As the game entered OT, there was pressure on both teams who were desperate for a win. LeBron’s Lakers would limit the Knicks to just 4 points and seize a 7 point victory. They did so by forcing the Knicks to attempt tough shots and make turnovers. Malik Monk, Talen Horton-Tucker, Trevor Ariza, Anthony Davis, and LeBron James would all score for the Lakers to close the game.

The strange thing, however, was that the Lakers decided to bench Russell Westbrook during the OT period. Maybe this decision was taken with respect to Russ’ poor shooting. Regardless, the Lakers earned a much-needed victory as the Knicks slip into a 24-29 regular-season record.
