It’s known all-around, that the city of Los Angeles will always be the home of the late, great, Kobe Bryant. Fans around the city can still be seen wearing Kobe jerseys to Lakers games. Clearly, there is still plenty of love for the man who delivered 5 titles and several iconic moments to a city that still calls him their hero.

This year is no different for the fans. They still flock in large numbers to Laker games despite the team not living up to their expectations. But what gave the city hope this season is the fact that the Los Angeles Rams took part in this year’s Super Bowl and defended their city by defeating the Cincinnati Bengals.

This game the city something to celebrate amidst the lowly Lakers‘ NBA season. But there was one fan who did not forget Kobe even during the Rams’ great achievement. This was none other than Vanessa Bryant.

Vanessa Bryant Reps Kobe Bryant at Super Bowl LVI

During the NFL’s most coveted event of the season, Kobe’s wife Vanessa posted a picture on her Instagram account supporting her husband. Check out the Instagram post here.

The picture displayed her in a white t-shirt that had a photo of Snoop Dogg and the words – ‘KOBE IS KING’ written on it.

Clearly, the picture was not just a tribute to Bryant, but also a sign of support for the Rams and the City of Los Angeles. Furthermore, this support did not go in vain as the Rams defeated the Bengals, 23-20, and claimed the title.

Kobe’s Impact on Basketball, Fans, and Los Angeles

As the Rams defended their city, it was clear that fans, like Vanessa, did not forget their city’s hero. Kobe, during his time in LA, brought the city plenty of success. But his fanbase was not just centered around LA, it was global. Bryant would also showcase to the world his ‘Mamba Mentality’, which embodies hard work, discipline, and not giving up.

Towards the end of his career, Kobe always believed in passing the torch. This initiative was allowing the greatness to be passed on in the future. This can be seen today in players such as Devin Booker and Jayson Tatum in the NBA, as well as in players like Sabrina Ionescu in the WNBA.

In fact, his impact was so massive that fans, while playing their local pickup games, would yell ‘Kobe!’ while hitting a last-second shot. Maybe it was the ‘Mamba Mentality’ that allowed the Rams to win it all. Whatever the case may be, the city will never forget their King!
