Wife Vanessa Shares Three Word Kobe Bryant Message After Team USA Brings Home World Championship

Los Angeles Lakers legend Kob Bryant was constantly pushing his limits to expand his horizons of the game. From his shooting to footwork, and to his postgame, Kobe never gave himself an excuse. He never took a day off and his work ethic was proof of it. Notably, Bryant used to look for advice from Michael Jordan during his early playing days.  

And as his career transitioned, Bryant eventually became a mentor to many other players in the NBA. Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard, DeMar DeRozan, Kyrie Irving, and Devin Booker are some of the many players who Kobe Bryant mentored.

The Kobe Bryant and Sabrina Ionescu connection

But Bryant didn’t just stop there. He had a close relationship with WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu. Ionescu plays for the New York Liberty and was known to work out quite a lot with Kobe. In the show ‘All The Smoke’, Ionescu sat down with ex-NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. They all shared some memories of Kobe Bryant.

Sabrina Ionescu mentioned that Bryant attended one of her games with his daughter Gianna and since then they had a close working relationship. When Barnes asked what was the best advice Kobe had given her, she said, “real sharpness comes without effort”.

USA win FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup

The United States women’s basketball team just won the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. They defeated China 83-61. And Bryant’s wife Vanessa posted on her Instagram story with a message for Sabrina, “Bet on yourself – Kobe Bryant”. 

The number one overall pick of the 2020 WNBA draft was not just close to Kobe but to Gianna as well. Bryant would mentor Ionescu who would in turn work with Gianna and her teammates. In Kobe Bryant’s memorial speech, Sabrina Ionescu gave a touching and heartfelt message for Kobe and Gianna.

In his 20 seasons in the NBA, The Black Mamba was an 18-time All-Star, winning one MVP award, two Finals MVP awards, and five NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers

Ionescu was seen as Kobe Bryant’s prodigy. On ESPN’s ‘First Take’, Stephen A. Smith asked Ionescu about the impact Bryant had on her. She said, “We became really close over the years with Gigi and his team. He really only not helped me basketball-wise but off the court as well”.
