LeBron James has been one of the greatest players of our generation. He has been extremely influential and has changed the game forever. LeBron has impacted every franchise he has been a part of. His latest impact was on the Los Angeles Lakers when he led them to a championship two seasons ago.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis were a good duo. However, after their championship run, they have not been very effective together. LeBron is quite old, and Davis is quite brittle as it stands. Both the players miss a lot of games due to injuries. The Lakers cannot continue this way if they want another championship in the coming future. The competition in the NBA keeps increasing, and the Lakers can’t seem to cope with the mounting pressure.

Colin Cowherd recently voiced his concerns regarding James and the possibility of his trade. LeBron has gotten old and is not a beast at the defensive end anymore. However, his support is with The King. He said, “I would prefer the Lakers keep LeBron, trade AD. Blow it up this offseason.”

Colin makes a compelling argument. “LeBron needs LA right now as badly as LA needs LeBron. His business, his net worth has doubled in 4 years.”

L.A is a huge business and it is an extremely attractive destination for pro-athletes. LeBron has been displeased with the Laker franchise for the past few days.

The Lakers could not trade Russell Westbrook by the end of the trade deadline.  This makes James’ future unpredictable as his hopes for a chip might be tarnished with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Is Colin Cowherd correct?

Colin Cowherd is of the opinion that the Lakers should not be desperate to make LeBron stay. Los Angeles is a financially booming city. All athletes want to settle here. The investment opportunities available here are way more here than in other states, such as Cleveland or Portland.

Colin exclaimed “You put Giannis in LA tomorrow, he would make so much more money than he makes now in Milwaukee. There would be so many opportunities for him.” His point is that the Lakers should not appear to be desperate for James, since a lot of players will be waiting for the opportunity to play in LA.

The Lakers are unlikely to win another championship with this roster. The Westbrook trade has distorted the balance of the team and LeBron is reportedly cribbing about the roster. However, it is he who pushed for trading veteran players.
