Zach LaVine Injury Update: What is the Bulls Star Suffering From and How Long is He Out For?
Follow Us
Zach LaVine has emerged as one of the cornerstones of this Chicago Bulls team. While many ardent fans of the player have been singing his praises for years, this season has been a genuine breakout year for the first-time all-star. The Bulls are in the Playoff race after a long time and LaVine’s averages of 27.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists are helping that case massively.
However, the Bulls’ playoff push may be hampered by an unforeseen development. LaVine took the floor against the Golden State Warriors in their last game, but had a night to forget. He shot 4/16 as the Bulls slumped to a loss. Moreover, LaVine injured his ankle in that game and is now going to miss some time.
“It’s not great, just being honest.” — Bulls coach Billy Donovan on Zach LaVine’s ankle. He is questionable for Wednesday’s game at Phoenix.

LaVine is supposed to be a game-time decision for the Bulls’ next game against the Phoenix Suns. Considering LaVine has already been playing hurt and has seen his production dip in that time, it may be the best to let LaVine rest a few games. But how would that rest impact Chicago’s push to the playoffs?

Zach LaVine is not going to be out for a very long time. However, even two games without him at this junction of the season could have the Bulls fall out of contention. They are occupying the last play-in spot right now. However, their win total is not very impressive. Currently, they sit just three wins ahead of the 14th place, which is Orlando Magic.
Right behind the Bulls are the Toronto Raptors, who are one win behind. However, both the Magic and Raptors were sellers in the trade deadline and have weaker rosters. Orlando traded their big-man Nikola Vucevic to Chicago, and now the all-star will have to carry Chicago with LaVine possibly out.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are also weaker without Andre Drummond, but the Washington Wizards could threaten Chicago’s spot in the play-in game. There is competition at the lower end of the Eastern Conference, but the Bulls should have enough to get a play-in spot when the regular season ends.
