Magic Johnson Sends Heartwarming Message to NBA and MLB Legends Joining Rarefied Air

w withThe baseball world has been in a tailspin. Since the Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes took center stage, the entire MLB has seen no respite. Whether it be historic deals or franchise overhauls, the league is in disarray. A franchise changing its ownership outlook is the next domino to fall. However, the change has brought some fond connections for another MLB owner. After breaking barriers in his acquisition of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Magic Johnson is more than happy to accommodate those next in line to follow in his footsteps.

The Baltimore Orioles’ changing ownership signals a changing tide. Among the new men in charge are NBA and MLB legends, Grant Hill and Cal Ripken Jr. respectively. And Magic, as the trailblazer himself, was quick to pen a note to them.

Congratulations to my two friends Grant Hill and Cal Ripken Jr. for becoming the new owners of the Baltimore Orioles with their partners David Rubenstein and Mike Arougheti!”

Given the state of flux the entire league is in, can the new ownership group mark a change for the Orioles? Maybe they could have a similar impact on the team’s success in the future like Johnson did for the Dodgers.

Because his impact on LA? Magical. While he was transcendent as a basketball player, Johnson has been just as impactful in the City of Angels as an owner.

Since taking over the team, he has led them to 10 straight NL titles, including multiple World Series appearances and victories. Keeping his time in the NBA as a backdrop, the 5x NBA Champion may have brought Showtime, or the closest thing to it, to the MLB as well.

While he tries to replicate similar success in the NFL with the Washington Commanders, others are taking the baton in baseball. With the Orioles struggling as a franchise, both from on-field and off-field perspectives, can this new ownership group turn their fortunes around?
