The NBA likes to take care of its players. If a player plays for a certain amount of years, a retirement severance package is allotted towards his name. However, the minimum threshold needs to be crossed. Charles Barkley was quick to point out how one long-standing role player for various NBA teams, Tony Snell, would lose out on his deal if not signed by a team soon. As a result, Chuck was ready to make Snell’s plea during the NBA on TNT broadcast.

I read an article yesterday. Tony Snell needing to be signed by the end of this week.” The Phoenix Suns legend was willing to shed more light on the gravity of the situation and how important it could be for Tony. “Coz he’s got 2 kids with autism and he needs to play till the end of the year to get a 10-year medical to help him take care of his 2 autistic kids. I’m hoping, the NBA has been great to all of us sitting up here…I hope one of you guys sign Tony so his 2 autistic kids can get great medical care.”

Even though he wasn’t fully aware of the condition, Barkley had a ton of sympathy for those going through it. “I hope a team signs him for the rest of the season. Because I don’t know a lot about autism, I’m not gonna pretend…But, man, I know it must be expensive as hell to have 2 young kids with that situation.”

Let’s hope the Philadelphia 76ers legend’s request doesn’t fall on deaf ears.

After a plea from Charles Barkley, which team could find a spot for Snell?

Even though his Guarantee bit might be stolen, Chuckster could stake a claim in reviving the 9-year veteran’s career. Despite spending time on 6 different teams, Tony could not carve out a major role for himself. While his stints in Milwaukee and Atlanta were productive, where could he find a new home?

A solid defender and 3-point shooter, Snell could slot into a backup wing role pretty effectively. Teams bereft of perimeter defense, coincidentally like his earlier destinations, could use a boost from him. However, let’s just hope he does not give them one more iconic meme-worthy stat line.

While the NBA on TNT show often dissolves into hilarity and petty feuds, it was heartwarming to see the Phoenix Suns legend take a detour for such a warm gesture.
