I don’t think men should open up to women a lot,” is an idea, a statement that Shaquille O’Neal has always chosen to live with. The Big Aristotle’s on-court brilliance doesn’t help him escape from fan scrutiny for his views, and more often than not, these comments have caused a storm of controversy. And surprisingly, even after the criticism, he still believes in and sticks to his opinion. But with such a belief, what unorthodox thing did the big man do that’s getting him the limelight?

Contrasting to his idea of women, Shaq does share close ties with his mother and daughters. But wait, he has offended them too with his dating ideas. Despite his strict relationship rules for women, O’Neal’s sweet and hilarious gesture is winning the internet. Just recently, the Lakers legend pulled a cute and humorous act at the All-Star event. He signed a ball and passed it to a basketball player, Jenna Bandy, who was also in attendance. And as she was recording the vibe on the ground, O’Neal threw a ball at her. Oh, not just a sign, it had a message too!

The ball carried love with it. It had a cute message, “Will you marry me?“. Did she expect that? “I thought it was just a signed ball 🤣 @shaq,” she captioned the post. A light moment, or something serious; only time will tell, but the moment did take everyone by surprise. And as she showed the ball in the clip, fans took it upon themselves to be the commentators. “Can I be the flower girl at the wedding?” while another praised Bandy and wrote, “Clean catch.” But who is she? And what is the reason behind Shaq’s idea of not opening to women?

For those who don’t know, Bandy played college basketball at Cal State Monterey Bay. She has nearly 775K followers on her Instagram. The all-around athlete’s Instagram handle shows her involved in several sports. She also reportedly holds a Guinness World Record for the longest football throw into a target by a female, achieving an impressive 90 feet! So the incident did let jokes flow on, given the fact how ironic it is for Shaquille O’Neal’s perspective towards women. But what drove him to this?

Why Shaquille O’Neal discourages men from opening up to women?

Well, there are always two sides to any opinion. And it is the same here, behind the odd relationship advice that O’Neal has so much faith in. The bad is that he believes women take advantage of men when they are emotionally open up! He has said that before, and he said it again on The Big Podcast during a conversation with Ms. Pat. Quite a big allegation?

“When a man opens up to a woman sometimes a woman takes advantage of that so I don’t think men should open up to women a lot,” O’Neal said. His guest tried to convince him otherwise. “A real woman would take you and she would take whatever you get her and she would continue to mold you and the relationship,” said Ms. Pat who has been married to her husband for 20 years. However, the Los Angeles Lakers legend seemed adamant. Opinions come from experiences, but did the 52-year-old legend stop here?

He added another reason. He says he doesn’t wish to burden the woman with his emotional responsibilities. “I’m not opening up to no woman.” He further added, “Mine is based a little different. So women….You work hard and you have to do a little bit more than I do. I don’t want to put that pressure on you. As a man I’m supposed to be able to handle that pressure.” The world is more than just black and white, and the real picture lies in those gray. So do let us know your opinion on O’Neal’s odd relationship advice.
