Dwight Howard on his Instagram announced he was returning to Taiwan as a player and league owner. He becomes a part-owner of an Asian basketball league and one of its teams, the Taiwan Mustangs. The Mustangs are also competing in the Asian Tournament, which is competing in leg 3 of the tournament. Now, as the league owner, he has persuaded a former Los Angeles Lakers star to be part of the league.

He previously wrote on X, about the seriousness behind his idea of turning the Asian Basketball League into something like the NBA. Dwight Howard said, via Above The Rim with DH 12, “This ain’t no Jackie Moon this Frfr…Wait till y’all see the NBA players joining my league…just know they legends!” On his podcast, he revealed that there are 3 former NBA players 2 guards, and one big.

“I started a league and I’ve been recruiting players to come play for this league. And I’ve actually got one of my former teammates from the Lakers.” Howard saidHe previously teased keeping all the 3 names secret but later announced the 2019-20 teammate from his Lakers days as the first recruit. “Quinn Cook come on. Hey man, shout out to Quinn Cook man.

Thank you QC man you was a great teammate, I’m glad to have you as a teammate again in the the Asian tournament.” He wants to make the league more sustainable and with 2 more surprises up his sleeve. Looks like he definitely kept his promise of “bring the smiles back” to the people of Taiwan.

The 3x DPOY made his debut in Taiwan’s professional basketball league, the T1 league. Notably, he played the T1 league just for the 2022-2023 season with Taoyuan Leopards. The league made an exception for Dwight Howard with a $1 million offer as the league cap of foreign players to $200k. With all the respect and love, he surely reciprocated it when the people needed it the most.
