His Airness does not take rejections in good humor. So much so that he went to the extent of hiring the best ones and dished a ton of money to sketch his revenge! Following his retirement, Michael Jordan has spent most of his time on the golf course. His love for golfing is evident with the unveiling of his golf course in Florida. The name ‘Groove XXIII’ goes well with Jordan’s iconic Chicago Bulls jersey number. But what is even more impressive is that the course cost a whopping $20 million to build.

Jordan had one of the best golf course designers in the world to make his dream come true. The designer recently revealed how it worked for His Airness.

Bobby Weed is the president of Bobby Weed Golf Design. Jordan asked Weed to build him the best training facility and the best golf course. The instructions were simple and clear. Weed knew what it meant to do this work. It was not just any random person. It was Michael Jordan. Weed had to make a golf course fit for a king.

Weed also knew that this would get a lot of attention from fans and media, so he also had the pressure to put on his best work ever. He told CNN, “I knew that there was some fanfare associated with it, and I didn’t want to let him down”.

Once the land was secured, Weed told Jordan to be as involved as he wanted to be so that they could make the golf course with all of Jordan’s preferences. Even though Jordan came often to watch the progress of the work, he always let Weed and his team do their work and never interfered.

Jordan also wanted the course to be flat and firm to suit his playing style. This would, in turn, give him an advantage when he played against others in his own course. It is speculated that Jordan built his own course in Florida after an incident in Miami.

Michael Jordan was once removed from a golf course in Miami for not following the proper dress code. Jordan was wearing cargo pants in the La Gorce Country Club. This led to the people letting Jordan know that he had to change his outfit. But Jordan rejected the notion. As he was in the middle of a game, His Airness didn’t want to leave midway and break the momentum.

Unfortunately, the country club later let Jordan know that he was no longer allowed there. Being a competitive person, he went ahead and built the best course that money could buy for himself.
