I don’t think anybody in this generation could’ve played 20 years ago.” Kevin Garnett was upset with Anthony Edwards‘ comment on generational debate and tried to teach Ant-Man a history lesson. Although he may not have liked the comment by the Wolves star, he has an appreciation for French star Evan Fournier. And he spoke highly about France and their chances for the next Olympics.

Being worried about France is not a new thing, especially after their performance in their final, where a Stephen Curry masterclass practically bailed out Team USA. Apart from Victor Wembanyama, who was leading his team in points, rebounds, and assists, Fournier received words of encouragement from Kevin Garnett.

Evan Fournier! Shout to Evan Fournier ‘cuz listen, ‘cuz Fournier knows this how you got to play against the Americans. This how we got to be, and we can’t be in here sympathetic and trying to hold,” Kevin Garnett said on his podcast. He added, “Man Evan Fournier, he got the formula. He just ran out of time, bro. He actually thought man we could beat the Americans I got young Wemby.”

The Les Bleus shooting guard was the team’s third-highest points scorer. He averaged 9.8 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists during the 2024 Olympics. The appreciation clip from Kevin Garnett reached Fournier, and he shared his reaction on X. “Thank you for being an inspiration since day 1.

Even after Kevin Garnett’s appreciation, Fournier now finds a home away from the NBA

Despite his successful Paris Olympics, where he was the third-highest scorer for France, no NBA team came forth with a contract. It was Mattro Addreani who announced the news about Fournier’s return to Europe. Olympiacos’ contract of close to $2.5 million per season, makes him one of the highest-paid players in the EuroLeague. But, they weren’t the only team interested in the services of 2x Silver medalists.

Real Madrid and Milan were reportedly the other two teams to sign the NBA veteran. The last time the 31-year-old played in Europe was for France’s LNB A’s Poitiers Basket 86 where he spent two seasons before getting drafted in 2012 by the Denver Nuggets. Two years ago, he manifested his dream move.

“If I ever had to go back to Europe, and I had the choice to go where I wanted, I think I would go to Olympiacos. It’s still a hell of a club #F4GLORY,” he tweeted. This might be the rejuvenation Fournier needs after a few mediocre spells in the NBA. It might even propel Team France to win Gold on American soil, which is a worry for Kevin Garnett.
