Even though many of his ventures since retirement have been peculiar, none were as massive as his foray into the music industry. While his passion for the craft was evident, Shaquille O’Neal as a DJ did not add up at first. But, like he has many times before, Shaq proved the doubters wrong in multiple sectors. Through hard work and commitment, his DJing career has taken off. Before he takes the stage for his own bass music festival, there is a warning at hand for his audiences.

Shaquille O’Neal has a warning for bassheads

But, the story of music and the Los Angeles Lakers legend is far deeper than that. “To me, bass music is a relief. It is an outlet that allows Shaquille O’Neal to be someone other than a basketball player…It takes me back to Game 7 championship energy. Nothing has been able to do that for me except bass music. I crave it.”?

While his list of performing events continues to grow, with names like Lollapalooza and Tomorrowland in the mix, the 7-footer has even bigger ideas. As a result, he plans to do something extraordinary and monumental at his own show.

Whether it be a Ferris wheel or a food truck village, the festival will have something for all comers. In a conversation with Forbes, the 4-time Champion had an optimistic outlook for his fans. “It will be all-new music, all-new edits, maybe a few special guests, and, of course, a whole lot of flames.” But, there was a warning for the Shaq faithful as well.

?I love flames. It goes without saying but the DIESEL will be joining all of you in the mosh pit, so beware. It will be my hardest headbanging set yet.”?

But, there is a deeper story at play about the inception of the event itself. Even though he’s been a part of the lineup at major events, the former Miami Heat champion wanted to take up his own project. “I was already throwing my annual Super Bowl party, Shaq?s Fun House, but I needed something for the headbangers?something that DIESEL could get behind.?

To commemorate the occasion, the lineup will feature a host of new “toys” for the big man to play with.

Whether it be top-tier artists or even some up-and-comers, everyone gets a shot. However, the festival did need something special. So, both stages will feature a “Shaq-sized production”. LED walls, a mega sound system, pyrotechnics, and all the usual hubbubs of a bass music festival are present. Features like smoke machines will further add to the ambiance.

Between Shaq’s commitment to the industry, for which he even takes practice lessons from his millionaire son and his childhood love for it, he takes the craft very seriously. Now, as the festival is about to explode, the man at the center of it all is DJ Diesel himself.
