There’s a reason Nike is on top of the game. Even though they receive constant criticism, and rightfully so, they can muster up the best when necessary. And, for the latest drop in the Kobe Bryant re-launch, they are going a step beyond. By now, the That’s Mamba campaign is a steady part of the vernacular. It has become a heartfelt tribute to Kobe, his teachings, and the Mamba Mentality. However, the latest addition to the campaign might be one of its deepest, and best. As a result, it brought out a simple, yet effective, response to Isaiah Thomas.

The message from the industry leader was simple. At face value, at least. As the video was once again enacted by kids, one player would charge through a screen to continue defending his assignment, the message was clear. “You can fight through anything. Especially screens.”

Not just Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant was also on the list

In a news that became more viral than anything in the NBA in December, Shaquille O’Neal made an interesting addition to the “best player” conversation. His inclusion, of course, was Stephen Curry. However, he wasn’t the only one to earn the nod from Mr. Diesel.

Due to his inclusion as the only unanimous MVP in NBA history, Kenny “The Jet” Smith had an immediate rebuttal. While Kenny would try to make the case for just 3 names deserving of that honor – LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

While The Captain does not get many mentions for a peculiar reason, Shaq has a different problem. Immediately, the exclusion of Bean was a craw in his grill. With more players, past and present alike, speaking up about Kobe’s name in these debates, has the national media done a disservice in discluding him?

Does the name Kobe Bryant warrant a discussion in the GOAT debate?
