Magic Johnson is not new to winning MVPs. The Los Angeles Lakers legend has won that individual accolade thrice in his career. Well, it looks like he has added another one to his bag after a famous African-American cookie company decided to honor him for ‘Black History Month’. With the world moving towards making healthier food choices, it is quite challenging to retain the addictive taste. However, for ‘Maya’s Cookies’, it was never a problem.
Vegan is the new go-to trend, or rather a habit, in several countries right now. To master cookies without any dairy products and strictly sticking to vegan procedures is no joke. But Maya Madsen has been doing it for almost a decade now. One of her famous flavors is “The MVP” cookies, which she decided to send to Magic Johnson as a part of her “Black History Month Collection”.
Magic, who was privileged with this honor, wrote on X (Twitter), “Thank you so much Maya’s Cookies for honoring me with “The MVP” cookie in her 2024 Black History Month Collection! I am grateful to be recognized by this talented Black entrepreneur who makes the best vegan cookies in the country!” Well, Maya Madsen had a reply as well.

How did a rough childhood help Maya Madsen to improvise in making cookies?
Having grown up in a foster home, Madsen had a lot of food insecurities. She shared in an interview, “I went to bed hungry many nights. I vowed when I had kids, I would never let them go to bed hungry.” This decision from Maya is a reason why she is so successful in her business. Madsen left the foster home at 18 because she felt it “was not a place of love”.
After finishing courses in food and nutrition, she wanted to spread love through her cookie recipes. Being a vegan, she decided to improvise her recipe for a larger consumer like her and thus was the start of her vegan cookie company. She said, “As a vegan, I wanted to show that plant-based eating isn’t boring but actually tasty.”
