He was clear in selling that desire. “If they don’t wanna make me majority, I’ll take a minority stake…And, not the team I won a championship with.”

After being drafted in Florida with the Orlando Magic, his ties to the state and city, in particular, are understandable. However, with his desire so apparent, it might just be a matter of when rather than if.

With the news of Magic looming in the background, the 7-footer would surely look to follow suit. He has also paid credence to taking up the same role with a potential Vegas expansion team.

However, with Magic joining them, a common thread for all three has been ownership stakes. Even though LeBron is yet to join the ranks of NBA ownership, he has a stake in the English Premier League. Similarly, Johnson’s ownership duties have taken him to the WNBA, NFL, and MLB.
