At long last! Caitlin Clark will face off against Paige Bueckers at the Women’s Final Four. After their first-ever thrilling match-up in 2021, this is their second battle. With the excitement very much evident on social media, there are myriad opinions on who will be able to add a championship to their resume this year, especially considering that it’s Clark’s last chance. Another big question is about the WNBA 2024 first pick.

Speaking of Clark and Paige’s chances in the WNBA, NBA veteran Gilbert Arenas’ co-host recently claimed Paige to be a better player than Clark. “I don’t know if they’re gonna bring Caitlin in to be more of a distributor. She’s obviously gonna score, but they have a lot of scoring threats on that team. They got the girl who’s in third place, Kelsey Mitchell,” Lexi Brown said in the latest episode of Gil’s Arena Podcast.

Although Brown picked Clark, she pointed out the potential threats and said, “Third place all-time leading scorer, is gonna be on the same team as the current first place all-time leading scorer. The fact that no one is really talking about, that is weird to me, because you have two of the greatest college scorers in basketball history on the same team. So if I’m a Fever, I’m still going with Clark.”

While Paige was the No. 1 high school prospect in 2020, Clark was named No. 4. However, both were five-star prospects. While Caitlin is expected to enter the WNBA draft in 2024 and has a great chance to be picked by the Indiana Fever, Bueckers is likely to try her luck once again in college basketball. Back on February 16, Paige clarified that she would stay for the next season.

Caitlin Clark vs. Paige Bueckers

The two battled with some of the toughest opponents this year. After facing a disappointing loss against LSU in 2023, Clark dished out 41 points to reach the final four. On the other hand, Bueckers beat the top-seeded USC. And finally, the moment comes when the Huskies will go head-on against Iowa on April 5.

Their previous matchup is a fitting example of what to expect in the upcoming game. Bueckers dropped a power performance to beat Clark 92-72 in the Sweet 16 during their last matchup. Clark scored 21 points and five assists to counter Paige’s 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. However, even then Iowa couldn’t beat the Huskies. Unfortunately, UConn couldn’t win the championship as they were defeated by South Carolina that year.

But now, as the two top college ballers are coming face to face again, it will be interesting to see who will have the last laugh.
