Another day, another Draymond Green controversy. Despite being a 4-time Champion, a DPOY, and a key component to the greatest modern NBA dynasty, Green’s career might best be remembered for his altercations, rivalries, technicals, and ejections. For a player whose ejection, and eventual suspension was a key component to the 2016 NBA Finals, one would assume that Dray has learned his lesson. However, in the years since, it’s become clear that he hasn’t.

After disgusting scenes during the Warriors’ match against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the jury remains out on Green. His incendiary behavior did spark a dialogue on NBA On TNT. Or, laughter to be more specific. It even brought out an old reference from Shaquille O’Neal.

The bad blood between the Golden State Warriors and the Timberwolves was already reaching a fever pitch. Further, the history between Draymond and Rudy Gobert, in particular, was also growing by the minute. After the Jordan Poole incident, Gobert mocked Green’s behavior and leadership.

However, the DPOY would get one back on the Frenchman. After a similar incident during the Play-in game between Rudy and Kyle Anderson, Dray would harken back to the 3-time DPOY’s earlier comments. But, in this incident, neither man was involved. To begin with, at least.

What began as a minor scuffle between Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels quickly reached boiling point. Coming down the court, the two got into a jersey-pulling incident. Even though Rudy went to separate the two, Green took offense to McDaniels’ behavior. Unfortunately, it was the 7-footer that had to pay the price.

Locking him in a chokehold for well over 5 seconds at center-court was a truly violent display on Dray’s part. Except, its frequency rendered the entire display a tad repetitive. Instead of horror, even the NBA on TNT crew could only laugh at Green’s usual antics.

Shaquille O’Neal, though, had to go old-school after watching the incident.  “Say hello to your mama.” After his years-long feud with Gobert, O’Neal might have enjoyed Draymond’s display a tad bit too much.

With Green, McDaniels, and Thompson ejected, the loss was far more severe for the Warriors.

Without Stephen Curry in the mix, Golden State was coming into the game short-handed. However, twin ejections to the other 2 members of their “Big 3” led the team to an uphill battle. Even though the team was able to put up a fight, it would end up as too little.

On top of the existing bad blood between Rudy and Draymond, the scuffle could also result from the growing vitriol between the two teams. Just 2 days ago, Anthony Edwards was also in a big altercation with Green.

After Antman took offense to a hard foul by Green, the two got into a verbal spat. That moment would catapult into a Minnesota run to victory. However, the issues between the two sides were far from over.

With Edwards promising to end the Warriors dynasty this offseason, his mission is just beginning.
