Shaquille O’Neal’s God-Father has been the host of Inside the NBA since 1990. The legend has dominated the sports broadcasting world for over three decades and won millions of hearts. Tonight, he is adding another accomplishment to his stacked resume as he is being inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony is being conducted in New York, and Ernie Johnson will be joined by his co-panelists from the legendary TNT show. As Ernie Johnson gets ready to receive the honor, NBA legends Grant Hill and Jason Kidd went down memory lane to appreciate the greatness of The Godfather.

Grant Hill reminded the Dallas Mavericks head coach that the first time they met Ernie was when they won the co-Rookie of the Year award in 1995. They reminisced about that moment, and Kidd bestowed the broadcasting legend with a high honor.

“He’s the GOAT. He is the one who has set the bar for everyone. When you talk about the greatest to ever do his job, that’s gonna be Ernie,” Kidd said. The Mavs head coach further appreciated Ernie as a person and one of the biggest promoters of basketball.

The NBA world also had great things to say about the TNT legend. When TNT asked the fans to describe Ernie Johnson in just one word, one fan simply said, “Irreplaceable.”

Others followed suit and called Ernie a “Legend”, “GOAT”, “Incandescent”, “Sincere” and more.

Another user decided to give praise to Johnson’s fashion, using an image that dubs Ernie as the “drip god”.

One TNT fan simply used a GIF to agree with Jason Kidd on Ernie’s greatness.

And, of course, fans would be amiss to not give their flowers to Ernie Johnson’s impeccable collection of bow ties.

It is evident from how even Hall of Fame players treat Ernie on the show that he is one of the most respected individuals in the sports world. There are many reasons for that, including his kindhearted nature and multifaceted career.
