It’s been a busy few weeks for sports. While baseball goes on in full swing, the restart of the football season, both the NFL and college level, signals the end of the summer months. As a result, sports fans are quickly getting back in the swing of things. In the midst of this turnaround, Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson is a busy man. Due to his ties with three different sports, he has a lot to take in. Recently, it was his baseball team that got a special congratulatory message from the five-time champion.

As a result of an extremely rewarding weekend, Magic had to send out a special word of appreciation for the staff under him in the MLB.

Magic Johnson appreciates his MLB team’s infrastructure

2 years after their World Series victory, the Los Angeles Dodgers are in a prime spot to contend. Following a 6-1 win over the Seattle Mariners, the team officially solidified its status as the NL West Champs. As a result of their victory, their 10th West title in the 11 years since Johnson took over, the 3-time MVP was in high spirits. His first order of congratulations, however, went to a special member.

Dave Roberts, manager extraordinaire for the Dodgers, was extremely happy with his group, and Johnson’s endorsement put a bow on it.

Further, he lent a supportive message to his co-owner as well. “And thank you to one of the best owners in all of sports, my partner Mark Walter!” But, the biggest piece of the pie was for the man of the hour himself, Jason Heyward. Summarizing his efforts, Magic wrote, “Jason Heyward went 3 for 5 and hit a HR to seal the victory. He had a standout series going 8 for 14 with 4 doubles and an HR!”

Due to the uncertainty around Heyward last offseason, the $600 million rich NBA legend had to give a shoutout to one more person behind the scenes. “I want to thank @Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman for bringing Jason to the Dodgers.”

The Dodgers are your new NL West Champions. Now, a repeat of their 2020 efforts could be upon them. If they win another World Series, it’d be their second under Magic’s stewardship. However, baseball wasn’t the only sport the NBA legend was concerned with this weekend.

Magic Johnson’s triumphant weekend

The start of the football season now brings some added responsibilities for Earvin. While his role as owner was limited to a brief stint in the NBA, the WNBA, and MLB, he is now a member of the NFL circles as well.

As a result, weekends are packed for the man with the highest assist average in NBA history. And it looks like Johnson has the ‘Midas touch’. While his Dodgers have been a premier threat, the most recent $5.6 billion takeover of the Washington Commanders is already paying off.

Last year, the franchise took 6 games to reach 2 victories. This time around they have a perfect round after 2 weeks. After a nail-biting, comeback victory over the Denver Broncos, the Commanders are in a very strong position.

With Johnson’s Magic touch working elsewhere, could a similar story be in store for Washington? What do you think?
