The Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal retired from professional basketball in 2011. But basketball fans do not feel like he has retired, as he never stays out of the spotlight. The four-time NBA Champion has become even more active since retirement. This time he his joining other celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Snoop Dogg in an interesting, unexpected venture.

For fans who followed O’Neal’s career, this would be met with a lot of excitement. As the 15-time NBA All-Star is known to bring his flavor to all his endeavors.
Shaquille O’Neal and his new cookbook
In 2022, the three-time NBA finals MVP decided to launch his cookbook, titled “Shaq’s family style”. Multiple celebrities have already decided to be a part of this world, launching cookbooks, like Reese Witherspoon and Snoop Dogg. And Shaquille O’Neal would be competing with them.

While talking to Gayle Kings, the 14-time All-NBA said “I know that Dr. Lucille O’Neal, my mother, even though we didn’t have a lot, made us feel like we had a lot. I was a big guy I would always ask for seconds and thirds and she’d be like ‘man, I hope when you get older you have a good job’ ”.

O’Neal shared this as his path to knowing more about food and eating delicious home-cooked meals. These recipes can be termed ‘comfort food’ for the majority. The cookbook contains dishes that the Lakers legend grew up liking, with his own twist.
The Los Angeles Lakers legend was asked about why none of his dishes had vegetables, “I don’t eat a lot of Vegetables, Gayle” the 7-feet basketball legend jokingly replied.
Shaq and his different endeavors
The seven feet tall basketball legend has taken part in a lot of activities apart from basketball in his life. He took his education seriously as he received a doctorate in Business in 2012, a year after retiring from the sport. The Lakers no. 34 has investments in multiple businesses, which range in a variety of sectors.

The three-time finals MVP has not stopped pursuing different projects since he hung his boots. The Basketball legend also talked about his projects after retirement from the sport. He mentioned how his parents made him wary of different statistics, such as how 60% of NBA players go broke after retiring. He mentioned how his parents played a big role in making him what he is today, even after retirement.
