The Flu Game is so famous that by now you already know whom it’s related to. Yes, back in 1997 NBA finals, Michael Jordan played his best despite being extremely unwell.
And it still stands as one of his most prominent games of the legend. Another big star, Kobe Bryant has had his ‘fighting sickness’ days back in college as well.
Bryant earned recognition back in his high school days before stepping into the NBA world. The young boy from Philadelphia played from Lower Merion High School in Ardmore.

He was known in the country for his skills and even received the ‘Naismith High School Player of the Year’ award in his senior days.
Kobe was drafted in the 1996 NBA draft by Charlotte Hornets and traded to Los Angeles Lakers. That’s when he became the star that most of the world knows about now. But even before his Lakers days, Kobe had seen his fair share of fame.

His Lakers’ one-year teammate, Caron Butler recently posted Kobe’s video featuring him playing for Lower Merion. He’s seen puking in a bag but continues to play aggressively for the team. The tweet reads, “Feeling a little under the weather…”
Does that seem like a flashback to Michael Jordan in the 1997 NBA finals? It looked like Bryant’s ‘Flu Game’. The two are compared on grounds of competitiveness and mentality to date. Their dominance in the game is what makes them seem quite similar.

Kobe had that in him. The spirit to win. The spirit to kill any hurdle in the process of winning. But who knew it’s been like that since his high school career. The Lakers legend recently died in an unfortunate helicopter crash this year with his daughter.
The bond that Michael and Kobe shared was surrounded by secrecy but now we know how close they were.
