With this season looking indecisive towards its return, Milwaukee Bucks is heading to one of the most baffling decisions for the next season. Giannis Antetokounmpo, the face of Bucks is going to become a free agent next year. Bucks is pulling all strings together to keep their best player in the team. In a fun Instagram Live chat along with his sons; current free agent, Isaiah Thomas made a controversial statement about Giannis. He shockingly stated that the ‘Greek Freak’ will leave the Bucks for a bigger market.  What does he intend to convey to the viewers?

The young star, Giannis was drafted by Milwaukee Bucks in 2013 as the 15th overall pick. He was the MVP in the last season and looked like a potential for this year’s title race too. In the 2016-17 season, with his speed and ball-handling skills, Atetokounmpo led Bucks in all the five major statistical categories. Also, he became the first in NBA history to be part of the top 20 in all five categories in the regular season.

What does Bucks have in order to entice Giannis?

After receiving his first MVP award in 2019, Giannis has also been named in the 2nd straight All-NBA First team in this league. Even though Bucks is a small market team, they will give all it takes to keep Giannis in the team. The 25-year old is now eligible to sign the ‘Supermax’ contract for the Bucks. If Giannis Atetokounmpo chooses to stay back in the team, he will be signing the largest contract extension in the league history with a 5-year deal worth $250 million approximately.

For other bigger market teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors, Giannis is a golden opportunity this time. They will surely make offers that entice him. Will they be able to beat the ‘Supermax deal’ by the Bucks?

Giannis Antetokounmpo – Bucks gem

Milwaukee Bucks was the team that drafted Giannis in 2013. Through his years in the team, he has grown as a player and today he stands way above others in leader charts. Over time, Bucks has developed and nurtured Giannis that has led him to become such a star for the team. He was awarded as the ‘Most Improved Player’ in 2017 which stands true for these reasons. Within such a short period in his career, he has slid in the list of NBA favorites quite quickly.

Recently, Isaiah Thomas’s statement on Giannis is one that may or may not stand true In the future. Many may even like to see the Bucks star play for Lakers but Giannis has never been money-minded in the past. He has declined various movie and branding offers earlier in order to focus on the game. He did mention once that he would like to play with his brothers but the fact that Bucks has done nothing less for him that would make him leave.

James Harden’s exit from Oklahoma City Thunder was another controversial and shocking trade in NBA history. It will be interesting to see if history repeats itself or not.
