If one looks back at the 2012 NBA Draft, many prominent stars got drafted that year. But the order of picks looks wrong, when seen from a present-day perspective, such as Golden State Warriors’ star forward Draymond Green, who was the 35th overall pick in the 2012 drafts.

The first overall pick was ‘The Brow’, Anthony Davis from Kentucky. But what seemed a bit off the charts was the second pick, AD’s Kentucky teammate, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

As we go down the order of picks, some worthy stars in the top ten picks were Bradley Beal, Damian Lillard, and Andre Drummond. Three-time NBA champion, Draymond Green was placed far below at the 35th overall pick from Brooklyn. And even further down was Khris Middleton at No.39.

Green outrightly discourages how he got picked after so many forwards who weren’t better than him. In a conversation with Damian Lillard on Bleacher Report’s digital show ‘Chips’, Green extended his disappointment.“Me being drafted with the 35th pick — I can name 15 small forwards/power forwards that went before me that I knew right then, ‘Yo, this dude is not better than me.'”

Golden State Warriors forward would have preferred a higher spot in the 2012 NBA draft

If the picks were redrafted in 2012, Green chooses the fourth spot as a worthy position to get picked. He considers three All-Stars who were rightly drafted above him, Anthony Davis, Bradley Beal, and Damian Lillard. But beyond that, Green places himself right behind them. “I go back and look at our draft, and I say there are three people that would get drafted before me if our draft was re-done.”

Draymond Green started his NBA campaign with the Warriors and played alongside the likes of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant. Green developed his game and became a key player for the Warriors.

He won the 2015, 2017, and 2018 championships with an incredible franchise. Amongst some power-shooters and offensive players, Green contributed majorly on the defensive end. He became the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and the steals leader in the same year.

Amongst the All-Stars, Green was one of them to get drafted in 2012. Had he been in the top picks, then how different would have things been?
